This invitation is from Jan Fedewa, Executive Director, Michigan Humanities Council. It was addressed to me, but surely she would like to see you there as well.

The Michigan Humanities Council (MHC) cordially invites you to join us for a special presentation at the Hamtramck Public Library at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15. The MHC will present a special, limited copy of The Great Michigan Read poster to the Hamtramck Public Library. The poster is autographed by the artists who designed them, Charlie Sharp of Lansing and Kathryn Darnell of East Lansing. Immediately following the presentation will be a screening of the film, "Hemingway in Michigan," a Hemingway World Quiz and a prize drawing.

The presentation will be made in recognition of the Hamtramck Public Library's events to celebrate The Great Michigan Read. In addition to the grand opening, future events include: selected film screenings and discussions; an exhibit featuring first and special editions of books by Hemingway; and contest and quizzes about Hemingway and Northern Michigan. And, on April 24, 2008, the Michigan Humanities Council (MHC) will bring
Valerie Hemingway to the Hamtramck Public Library. Valerie Hemingway is author of Running with the Bulls, a memoir of her years as Ernest Hemingway's secretary and her later marriage to his son, Gregory Hemingway.

Invited guests for March 15 will include: local, state, and federal elected officials; the board of directors and staff of the MHC, local library boards and supporters; The Great Michigan Read supporting organizations; and local media. Comments will be provided by Jan Fedewa, executive director of the Michigan Humanities Council; Karen Majewski, Mayor of Hamtramck; and Tamara Sochacka, director of the Hamtramck Public Library.
